Some Fun From DC....

DC Comics, that is! In particular, I'm referring to issue 41 of Wonder Woman, written by Gail Simone and illustrated by Chris Batista and Fernando Dagnino.

The lady duking it out with Wonder Woman on the cover of the magazine is called Power Girl, and she has the same powers as Superman, which means the two of them are pretty evenly matched. In fact, during the battle one particularly strong punch from Power Girl knocks Wonder Woman clear into Canada!

Now, since both of these characters are Superheros, why are they battling each other? The answer, it turns out, is that the Sons of Ares are loose upon the Earth, and they are determined to destroy Wonder Woman and the city that she protects.

So as to be able to carry out their mission without rasing any red flags, they look very much like boys attending a private school--cap, blazer, shirt, tie and knee-pants.

By using the standard weapons of war propaganda--rumors, suggestions, lies and innuendo that help raise sparks of distrust and fear in the populace--the "boys" manage to incite the people of the town toward a near riot, and even convince Power Girl into believing that Wonder Woman (Princess Diana) is evil, and may, in fact, be an imposter. This leads to the fight depicted on the cover. The magic of their mind poison is quite strong, and works only too well.

It takes some doing, but Diana manages to get Power Girl back to normal, and fills her in on what might be going on. They need to do two things: calm the mob that is gathering before they riot, and find the children and shut them down before they can affect the entire city.

Power Girl is all for shutting the little monsters down, saying, "Good thing I support corporal punishment huge!" (this statement is paired with an illustration of Power Girl smacking her fist into the palm of her other hand).

Wonder Woman surprises her, though. Wonder Woman will see to the children. She wants Power Girl to handle the mob. Power Girl isn't sure she can do it, but is willing to try. Wonder Woman has one more request to make, however, and hopes Power Girl won't take it the wrong way, but:

Power Girl goes off to confront the mob, but nothing she tries seems to work. They are slowly closing in on her from all sides, and things could get ugly in a hurry.

In the meantime, Princess Diana has located the children. They try their tricks on her, try to poison her mind, but it doesn't work. Wonder Woman's golden lasso is the lariat of truth--anyone tied in it must tell the truth. By having Power Girl loosely drape the rope around her, Wonder Woman has armored herself with the truth, and remains unaffected. "And now", she says--and there is a dramatic drawing of Diana's upraised fist--"I mete out a punishment you will remember!"

The scene cuts back to Power Girl, still having no luck with the mob. She finally simply speaks from the heart, telling them to look at the people they want to hurt--they're really all the same, friends and neighbors.

The scene cuts back to Wonder Woman and the boys, with one of the boys saying, "You can't....you can't DO this! You can't DO this!"

Princess Diana replies ominously, "I can and will. Who goes first?"

Cut back to Power Girl, and we suddenly see that the mob has turned away, and everything appears to be returning to normal. She seems more surprised than anybody that her words worked, but it certainly seems to have done the trick. (My own guess would be that the boys concentration and power were broken once confronted with Diana, but if Power Girl wants to believe her words had the desired effect--well, I'm certainly not going to be a spoilsport.)

At the end of the story, we see Wonder Woman and Power Girl relaxing, enjoying their success. Power Girl asks her what she did with the little monsters, and Wonder Woman tells her there is an island reformatory that the Amazons built. She's not sure it will do any good, but feels that they have to try.

Power Girls replies, "No. I mean...what was this punishment you threatened them with?"

"Oh, that", Wonder Woman tells her. "I gave them all a good hard spanking."

Power Girl looks incredulous and can't believe it, but Wonder Woman assures her that's what happened, adding, "I must say....they didn't much care for it."

And as they fly off into the sunset, Power Girl tells her, "Oh, man. I just may have to break down and ask for your autograph!"

I daresay that for some male bottoms, this issue provides some lovely fuel for fantasy fodder.

And with Halloween not all that far away, might I suggest a Wonder Woman costume for the female tops, and schoolboy uniforms for the male bottoms? Both might find themselves kept extra busy at any Halloween spanking party!

Remembering Cigi

The worst thing about getting older is the number of good friends you lose along the way.

This past Memorial Day weekend had a little more meaning for me, as my friend, Cigi--author of the blog, Cigi's World, a member of Chicago Crimson Moon, and someone I always enjoyed playing with and talking to--lost her battle with cancer and passed away.

The first time I saw Cigi, she was--surprise!--getting spanked. It was at a Crimson Moon party, and she had spent the time before the event writing on the CM message board, getting to know people, teasing and bratting up a storm, and getting I don't know how many people promising to tan her hide. I'm sure I was probably one of them. The bantering was all in good fun, of course--you never take the pre-party playful give and take that seriously. Still, I figured she would probably be a very busy lady at her first party.

I was a little dismayed, though, when I finally met her to find her getting spanked by one of the hardest spankers in the group. (It's usually wise for newcomers to start slowly with light to moderate play, since a party lasts 2 or 3 days.) I watched the play for a bit, then walked around to say hello to many of the other partygoers. When I got back to where Cigi was, the spanking was still going on! I remember thinking, "That selfish S.O.B. is going to wear her out before anyone else gets the chance to play with her." The thought did not make me happy. Let's be honest--that sort of spanking as a first experience could send many ladies sprinting for the exit, wondering "What the hell did I get myself into?" and vowing never to return.

I needn't have worried.

Cigi not only got through that first spanking, but gamely went on to the next one....and the next...and the next. A lot of people kept trying to tell her to slow down, that she had to learn to pace herself, give her bottom some recovery time. It's advice that she took to heart--at the next party. This was what she had been looking for, and she was going to make the most of it.

I never did wind up playing with her at that first party, but I did spend a very nice hour--along with another gentleman--talking to her, with her skirt up and panties down, as we rubbed her sore bottom to give her sort of a "forced" time out.

Rather than being turned off by that first experience, Cigi not only came back to subsequent parties--she brought her twin sister, Cheryl, along!

"The twins", as people often referred to them, were extremely popular. Many times I would see them at the start of the party, making promises to play, and then I'd barely see them again until the party was over. I can't begin to count the number of parties where we promised to play and then never managed to make it happen.

When it did happen, it was always a lot of fun. I remember the three of us going back to their room, I'd spank one while the other looked on, and the conversation would run throughout the course of the play. Then they'd change places, and I spanked the other one while the conversation continued. We'd talk about anything and everything, but mostly about the party and the other people, and later on, our blogs. Cigi had Cigi's World and Cheryl had started Positively Spanking. We called ourselves "blogging buddies". Those are happy memories.

One of the last times I played with Cigi was shortly after she had gone to the vendors fair at the party. She had purchased a lovely looking hairbrush, and she gave me the honor of being the first to use it on her bottom. It took all of two whacks before she decided that buying it was a mistake! Apparently, the lovely brush had a very nasty "bite" to it. (It should also probably come as no surprise that, even after that discovery, I still applied it for another half dozen swats or so. Hey, I wanted her to be sure of her assessment! That's just the kind of friend I am......)

The past couple of years have seen the spanking community lose some very good people--Vince, one of the people who founded and helped run Crimson Moon; Lyn, a lovely and delightful lady from Texas who, along with her husband, were very dear to me; and now Cigi. They are all missed.

When I heard of Cigi's passing, one thought immediately went through my mind: the bible says, "In my Father's house, there are many mansions". I feel certain that God, in his infinite wisdom, compassion and love, saw to it that Cigi got one with a woodshed attached.

Peace to you, Cigi.

Golden Slumbers

There's no way to know for sure, of course, but......do you think she's dreaming of a spanking?

Yeah......so do I.

Snakes On A Stage

I think at this point I can say without fear of contradiction that the very lovely actress, Salma Hayek, does not like snakes.

(I should note at this point that there is absolutely no spanking in this post beyond the fact that Salma Hayek almost always has a spot on my fantasy list of "Celebrities I Would Love To Spank." Those looking strictly for spanking stuff could probably stop reading now and check out one of the blogs on my Blog Roll.)

A day or so ago, Salma, Maya Rudolph, and Maria Bello were on set doing a publicity interview for their new film, Grown Ups, for Extra TV. The three ladies were seated in director-style chairs with a body of water and lush green foliage in the background. Salma was in the middle, with Maria to her left and Maya to her right, and the interview sat in front of them.

Apparently, there was--quite literally--a snake in the grass nearby who decided to join them onstage. (There have been no reports as to what kind of snake it was.)

When Salma saw the snake, she immediately pulled her feet up--exposing quite a bit of very lovely leg in the process (hey, snake or no snake, I still notice that kind of thing). She not only climbed and stood on her chair--amid shouts of "Help me" and "Somebody do something", she stepped over to her right and started to climb onto Maya Rudolph's chair. For that matter, she may have been trying to climb Maya Rudolph! She finally wound up perched on the back of Maya's chair.

By the way, while the story tends to focus on Salma Hayek, it should be noted that Maria Bello reacted in pretty much the same way--jumped up in her chair, stepped over from her chair to Salma's chair, and then huddled up against Salms as close as possible. The only difference is that, at times, she seemed to be smiling and laughing. Possibly she saw the humor in the situation, or perhaps she's one of those people who respond with laughter in stressful situations.

The interviewer had bailed about the same time Salma freaked out, and some people--stagehands, assistants, who knows who--came on the stage to try and restore order. One person finally had to carry Salma off the stage, where they tried to calm her down.

If you're interested, you can see the video clip of this at Extratv.com. And by this time, I imagine it can also be found on YouTube and other places. A search for "Salma Hayek snake scare" should do the trick.

Now, having said all that--here's where my suspicious little mind takes over.

Earlier this week, I was watching a show on E!, or maybe VH!--I honestly can't remember. It's one of those "list" shows--you know, "The 25 Sexiest Magazine Cover Models", or maybe, "The 25 Sexiest Short Actresses With Big Boobs"--you know the type.

Well, one of the people mentioned was Salma Hayek, and in a clip of an interview she did a while ago, she mentions how much she hates snakes. This was brought up in conjunction with the dance she did with a snake in Quentin Tarentino's, From Dusk Til Dawn. She said the snake felt cold and slimy against her skin, and if you remember the film, she wasn't wearing all that much. The entire time they were filming her dance, she said that she was thinking some very unkind thoughts about Quentin and George Clooney. The only good thing to come out of it was that she was able to use the movement of snake while she was holding it to help dictate the movement of the dance. She managed to concentrate on that and overcome her fear long enough for them to get the scene filmed. I'm sure the fact that the snake's handler was close by helped, too.

Anyway, that show with Salma talking about snakes airs early in the week--and then a few days later, a snake "somehow" manages to work it's way onto a stage where Salma is giving an interview? Smells fishy to me!

I think "someone"--heaven only knows who--saw the same show that I did and thought it would be "funny" to turn a snake loose. I've no idea how they pulled it off, of course, but the whole thing just seems to have happened too conveniently to be purely accidental. We'll probably never know the truth, though.

The late, great Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin, would have gotten a chuckle out of the whole thing. While some snakes are certainly dangerous, they can be benificial to the environment, and some people even keep them as pets. Snakes can, in fact, be very friendly.

Okay, maybe a bit too friendly! Hey, guy--take her out to dinner first!

Time For Some Updates

I thought I'd begin this post with a picture of a lovely lady who is absolutely outstanding in her field...........

Yes, I know it's an old joke.
And yes, I had to do it. Really. I did.
Anyway, I updated the Blog Roll about a week ago, and I thought I'd take this opportunity to mention the changes. Most of them are fairly new, and the potential is certainly there for some of them to become "outstanding". And what kind of a host would I be if I didn't try to steer you toward something good?
The new blogs are:
Finding Our Way
It's My Turn
Red-Bottomed Girl
Broken Glass Blog
BabyMan And SugarAnne
The Sweetness of Sugar
I think you'll find something to like in all of these. The last two are interesting in that the first is BabyMan's blog and The Sweetness Of Sugar is SugarAnne's blog. You get a "he said, she said" effect and a double perspective on things.
You can find links to all of these in the Blog Roll under "More Blogs I Read". Simply find the one you want and click on it to go there. As always, I encourage you to leave a comment. Bloggers, new and old, love to get your feedback, but I think it's especially important for the fairly new blogs. Let them know you appreciate their efforts. And, of course, tell them that Dr. Ken sent you.
Happy reading!

Half-A-Mil, Half-A-Mil, Half-A-Mil Onward.....

As the title of this post suggests--we have achieved half-a-million hits!

No, not those kinds of hits......

It took about 2 1/2 years, but Spanking Minnesota received it's 500,000 visitor sometime on Thursday! That's impressive no matter how you look at it. And all the credit goes to you, the reader. Thank you so much for visiting and reading this blog, whether you only visited once, or come here merely once in a while, or if you're a regularly visitor and reader. It all counts, and I hope you find something here that makes you laugh, smile, think--okay, maybe not so much on the "think" part. It's a spanking blog, not a dissertation! But I hope you have a good time while you're here.

The actual count is probably higher that 500,000, because for the first two months of this blog's existence, I didn't have a stat counter. I added one at that time because I was starting to wonder if anyone was reading beyond the 2 or 3 people who would comment on a post. Obviously, more than a few someones were reading, and coming back for more, and helping to spread the word about this quirky little blog.

Now, let's see how long it takes to get the counter up to 750,000 and then.....1,000,000! Man, that would be a lot of hits!

No, I already told you--not those kind of hits! Sheesh, talk about a one-track mind! What do you think this is, a spanking blog???
:-)
