This is Fort Snelling National Cemetery. It's where my father is buried. He was a World War II veteran.
While we enjoy this holiday weekend, let's all be sure to put a little time aside and honor the memory of those who served--or are serving--their country. It is their service and sacrifice that made our Nation what it was, and what it is.
A blessed Memorial Day to you all.
Sorry if this is late but I wanted to comment on this on your blog as well. I know several veterans and a few people who are now serving in Iraq. I hope everyone remembers that our freedoms are because of people who serve or have served in the military and has even died for our country. I will remember them in my thoughts and be thankful I have what I do now. Thanks to all the men and women who have died for our country, serving our country now int he war, and who have served in the past! We appreciate all your efforts!
ReplyDeleteWell said, Dr. Ken. Thank you for the sentiments.

Comment is very late, but I did want to comment on this. As a veteran, I know many who have sacrificed for their country, and many more that continue to ensure we have the freedoms and rights we have. It is easy to forget that serving in itself is a sacrafice that is made by volunteers day in and day out. Something that, unfortunately, many take for granted.

Pest, Michael, Hockey Goon--thank you all for your comments. It's easy sometimes to just go "whoo-hoo, 3-day weekend" and forget about the reason for the holiday. The reason for Memorial Day is one we shouldn't forget.
