Two Important Dates In History

We just passed two very important dates on the calendar.

The first, of course, was yesterday.

May the Fifth -- Cinco de Mayo.

Cinco de Mayo (the "Fifth of May") is celebrated nationwide in the United States and regionally in Mexico, primarily in the state of Puebla. The date is observed in the U.S. as a celebration of Mexican heritage and pride, and to commemorate the cause of freedom and democracy during the first years of the American Civil War.

In the state of Puebla, the date is observed to commemorate the Mexican army's unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of General Ignacio Zaragoza Seguin.

(I got this information from Wikipedia, so hopefully it's correct.)

The other important date, of course, was the previous day, also known as "Star Wars Day".

I know some of you are thinking, "Star Wars Day???" You heard me correctly.

May the Fourth......be with you.

I had a slight "oops" with my previous comment.

Star Wars day? I prefer "Secretary" day must be honest - still looking for a job in that line though, and a boss that is willing. (GRIN)

You got it from Wikipedia - words fail me.

The 5th of May is a national holiday throughout Mexico. Not only that but it ranks up there with the 16th September and the 20th November as one of the big events in the national calender.

Raven REd -- Hmmmmm. This blog could use a good Secretary. I should warn you, though, I'm one of those bosses who will spank you for any mistakes.....

Uncle Nick -- I'll take information anywhere I can get it!
