Overheard Last Night

With the election drawing closer and so much at stake, I've been watching the news channels more often than usual, mostly CNN and MSNBC. One show that has quickly become a favorite is The Rachel Maddow Show (MSNBC).

Last night she played the news clip of Barack Obama warning his followers not to get too cocky, reminding them of what happened to him in the New Hampshire Primary, and she then read his quote reminding everyone that "we ended up getting spanked."
At which point she looked into the camera, got a little twinkle in her eye, and said, "Spanked?!"--and then gave a playful little growl!
Oh, Rachel, you saucy minx.......was that appropriate? Does your partner need to take you out to the woodshed? From your reaction to the word, "spanked", I get the feeling you've made that trip before....... :-)
Who says politics is boring?

I definitely perked up when Rachel made her spanking comment a few days ago. And, I agree that it's likely she has made that trip. However, I envision her as the wielder of the strap.

Dr. Ken, I do say that politics is boring! LOL! Of course I don't watch much television so I didn't see this but I am sure since she reacted that way she must be a spanko but can't come right out and say it! LOL!

Last night, Rachel was chastising several Democratic Senators and Representatives for being too cocky given Obama's polls. She looked squarely into the camera, gave us that twinkle in the eye look, pointed and finger, and told them to "report to my office." I envisioned Rachel, a paddle, and recalcitrant Dems.

Mitch--it's entirely possible. Or maybe she's a switch. She does have a bratty sense of humor....

Pest--until this election, I probably would have agreed with you. But now, with so much at stake--and history about to be made, regardless of who wins (first black president or first female VP), I find myself following the events closer than normal.

Dave--you're welcome. Fun is where you find it. :-)

Mitch--I caught that and--no surprise--I had the exact same thought! LOL
